Put a pillowcase on your wife's head and have her scream.

Then hold a pillow over her face and have her scream again.

That is the effect the HKS flower has on the Karman Vortex signal.

If I put a pillow over my wifes head once, no way would I get a second chance, it would be me screaming!

Oh and to get some normality back into this thread, the AFR dropping to 21 on throttle lift off is totally what you should see, this cuts the injectors.

Barry .. the Mushroom doesn't cause that much of a disturbance .. so you don't have to worry about it ..

The later series of the evos run a slightly different injector compared to yours .. and if your car is practically stock and you increased the boost without doing anything else .. you're running out of fuel because your pump is being outflowed ..

Just need to understand your setup abit better ..

BTW I hate the V .. .. I love the 6.5 .. did you convert yours ???

This subject needs it own thread.

Most HKS RS intake fuel maps require full max rich AFR mapping in the 7's AFR to get even close to 11's and some still do not reach it.

the 5 came with the same injectors as the 6, 7and 8 AFAIK,
it was the 4 that had the smaller injectors,
and the car is running on the stock boost solenoid and the restrictor gromit is still in place,
it also has a walbro and sard set to 44psi the inj duty is at 80% so I cant see how it is running out of fuel,
I converted my ECU to one from an Evo8
I am going to refit the standard airbox to see if this improves things

OK .. if you say so .. ours had different injectors that were slightly smaller .. and these were JDM versions

At 44 psi and stock boost .. you should be running closer to 90%-95% IDC if the ROM is stock .. 80%-85% if you tune it to about 11.0AFR .. and that's with the 7/8/9 injectors ..

Anyway .. don't discount the O2 being bad per your initial question ..
Sensor will slowly go lean until you see 21.0 everytime you power up
Lifespan was around 1- 1.5years for mine

Ok we won't delve much into this .. feel free to pm me if you need more info on this .. what you quoted is a common misconception .. it does affects AFR but variations are not that drastic ..

Cheers for the info lads,
will try the intake to see if things improve,

another question is when I turn on the ignition the wideband is powered but before I start the car it reads 17.5 AFR can someone else with a zeitronics confirm that this is what their system reads when powered up but engine not running at least it might give me an indication if the sensor is going bad or not.
thanks

Reads 21 with IGN on and car off. Thats what its supposed to read. It won't have accurate reading until after 30 seconds when the heater elements are fully warmed up. It reads 17.5 even after 30 seconds with the IGn on and the car off?
