Then Scott Gray came into the thread saying how you should tune for zero knock. In essence he did a 180 and was agreeing with Bryan.

So this particular tuner is really stuck in the old DSM ways. He tunes with a narrowband and believes that 0-20 counts of knock is safe.
Wow ... the sensors must be super different. I got a 16 count recently and it was super audible. It scared the crap outta me!

Bryan and NJ, I agree 172% that he is still wrong. I do not agree with anyone that peak power can be made with knock. I can dyno tune a car without knock control and know when too much timing has been achieved by watching the power suddenly and inexplicably (other than I have added timing) drop off.

I also do not agree with his MIVEC approach. It so happens that my lappy has that image cached and I looked at it again today in disbelief while I was doing some work.

I can kind of see and understand the mindset he is in (or I would be in a similar situation) that its a 4G63 so I "know" what it wants. Heck 10 years from now when I am trying to tune a dual MIVEC, direct injected, bi turbo Evo XVI, I will be him trying to use tricks I learned from the 8's and 9's and be the guy that everyone complains about.

Again not defending, just clarifying that the guy does know some stuff. He just needs to join the rest of us in the 20xx's.

cliffs-read the last line of my sig.

Isnt it against the rules to post a topic as such without first addressing the vendor or in this case tuner.
