remove maf honeycomb (not a noob lol)

ok guys i just put on my gt35r and ive read some threads on here about people sucking in there maf. If i remove the honeycomb then rescale it will everything be fine? andy down sides to this? i just dont want to risk sucking it into the turbo...

thanks for the feedback.

I don't know much about fluid dynamics but as I understand the honeycomb smooths and directs air to give a more consistent and reliable reading.

The way I think about it is; if it wasn't necessary they would have just saved money and left it out. People have sucessfully epoxied around the honeycomb, I'd say thats a better option.

i wouldnt worry about it too much... If your maf is beat up looking and has a ton of mileage then you might want to get another...

But if its in good shape i think its one of those 1 out of a 100 deals

I would never remove the honeycomb from a karmen vortex. Maybe if it was a hotwire, but the slightest little bit of uneven airflow cant be good for the vortex.

If you have a smashed honeycomb you need the MAF replaced, even a small area dented would create lift, esp if flowing beyond 1800hz

I fitted a SS piece at the throught of the turbo for higher dynamic boost (more air volume per psi). You can use something like that to block the aluminum if your worried of it getting sucked in since it's about 10X the strength

my screen got sucked in @ only 21psi with a 35r. I've been running with no MAF screen over a year now so I guess I'm in the minority.

the car runs and drives fine, last time I checked LTFT was around -2/+2. thats even with 1000cc injectors.

I run a 6 blade 20g about 30psi+ and the other day I was changing my filter. Guess what was in the fliter. My maf screen, so who knows how long it was like that. The cars still runs the same.
