Blow Through Mass Air Meter

Hi Guys,

Wondering what meter you would suggest to run a Blow throw Meter with a Flash. Also would I need the MAF Translator? I am also running 1000cc PTE injectors.

It looks like it is really easy to Max out the Stock Mass Air Meter.. According to my logs I did it with about 25 lbs out of an FP evo green.

I now have an HTA35r and worried once I turn the boost up it will be really hard to tune accurately?

Also I figured this way if I do blow a ICP off I can still drive my car home (dd). Let me know what you guys think, I want to try and stay away from an AEM EMS if possible.

Thanks!

Freddy

The stock MAF is fine until you have a turbo flowing >60lbs/min... the green is more like high 40's.

It's expensive to go to a blow-trough MAF... some people opt to get AEM EMS and tune on speed density.

But, IMHO, the stock MAF is fine until you hit 550+whp

Thanks for the info.. When I am logging via Mitsu Logger, the "Air Flow" # that hits 1603.95 and doesn't go any higher, I assumed that was maxing out the maf sensor?

Also I am looking to break 600 whp if all goes well..

Any suggestion on who I can talk to about a blow through or call?

Thx

It only goes up to 1603.95 because you are viewing the clipped verision of the airflow. There is a 2-byte mod for airflow that allows you to log beyong 1600hz..

$200 for the Evo MAFT and $50 for a good OEM used GM sensor. $250 to remove a fair bit of restriction isn't too bad no? My friend just converted his evo over to MAFT because his stock airmeter was acting funny. The car according to him drives and tunes much better now. I agree though, run the stock airmeter as long as possible, but he was having issues in the 40lb/min territory.

I think the $50 for a used MAF is questionable... not everyone would want used nor could find it for that price (I would think)... so It'd be more along the lines of $500 for all new stuff, no ?

Yeah, that is what I was gonna say. It's no where near as expensive as going stand alone. TTP can hook you up with the maft (you don't need the pro, just the maf translator) and a GM 3" maf. Dejontool makes an upper intercooler pipe that fits the gm maf in the middle of the pipe.

Ebay, you can get used 3" mafs all day for about $50. I've used two of them with no problems at all.

You'll need a tune once the new MAF set up is in place.

the biggest thing that you want to consider when using the GM maft is to make sure that there is enough resolution up to (HZ) value. Also you would need to wire in your GM meter into the stock harness.
I believe the wires are
12V
GROUND
BARO
TEMP
IDLE COMP
AND MAF

I personally use a PMAS meter in blow through configuration and to the best of my knowledge the only other person on this board using one is Malibu Jack.

you can see my maf its closest to you in the picture

just make sure that the BOV is before the maf other wise you will be expelling metered air if it is after the maf in the IC set up
