88840016 vs 88840017???

Does anybody know the differences between 88840016 and 88840017?

I can't find much info about the 017, and the definitions I have seem to be pretty much incomplete compared to the 016 ones...

Plus if it's an improvement on the 016 rom, maybe tephra could work on the 017 only instead of both...

If its like the other ROM revisions its probably just some error code fixes. I have tuned a few of the 88840016 and it doesnt seem any different really than anything else. I have seen some of the US ROMS (the 05's in particular) where the ROM is not one of the normal ones, but if change the ROM ID register everything is still the same. I think its the 96940015 is that way, you can retag it as an 11 and it works perfect. Just an idea if you want to play around with a ROM and see.

Oh ok... The definitions i found for the 017 weren't as complete as the ones for the 016.

Anyways, if I find better definitions for the 017 rom, should I update, or there isn't really much to win in updating?

I don't really care for 017 if i don't need it...
My car is running just fine the way it is... I'm just wondering which romid for the EDM Evo IX tephra is gonna release V5 for... :P

88840017 is an update for something related to rev limiter, I can't find the correct post now. Definition is very close to 88840016, the MUT table have a different address and maybe something else.

I think that tephra will release only the 17 version patch.

guys - do you possibly have a "corrected" xml for 88840016 - the one with ecuflash doesnot seem to have correct values in some tables (desired idle steps etc.)
Thanks in advance.

Hmm - the addressess are the same in both - I do not think this one is correct:

- <table name="Desired ISCV intial step position with AC off-Neutral" address="3d48">
<table name="Engine Temp" address="71ca" elements="8" />
</table>

I do not have the evo 9 service manual but I doubt that when the engine is wamed up and idling - the idle stepper should be opened on 102 steps as the map under this definition is showing - I would expect someting between 0-20. Whereas when you look at the other table Desired idle with AC-on - it shows 37 steps which is reasonable.

i see that EDM version is not very largely around here. So we don't have (or i didn't seen until now) the Direct boost control, the v5 yet, and a lot of other definitions for a lot of tables.

And because we are a few that have this cars, let make a threat (or even here) and let's post everything that we have until now, to make a better xml and bin for us.

What do you think?

Actually i don't think direct boost control can really work in our cars, as the 88840016/17 roms don't have a map sensor to start with...

Only the JDM versions have a 3 bar map sensor, the USDM have a 1 bar map. Just like ours. So we can change it as well. No?

Our cars don't even have the 1 bar map sensor in the intake manifold. As far as I know.
