Defi BF vs JDM Map accuracy

Okay here's the thing. I am looking to get a wideband setup in the next week. I have decided the "innovate" problems that are popping up everywhere dont suit my needs so I will probably be going with the Zeitronix ZT2. Anyways I am kinda in a dilema. I am wondering if anybody has compared the accuracy of their Defi BF to say JDM map on their car or the Zeitronix map sensors. I want to make sure the Defi's are indeed very accurate. If they are I will most likely just get a JDM map for logging purposes. If not I was thinking I could go with the whole Zeitronix setup (boost, egt, a/f). I can't afford to have both so I want to know if anybody has found their Defi BF's (mainly boost and EGT) to be truely accurate or not. I know most say they are accurate but I want assurance if that makes sense.

In my case, I don't know which one is more accurate: my Defi BF, JDM MAP, or HKS EVC6.

My Defi reading is 0.8 psi higher than my JDM MAP, and HKS EVC reading is about 0.5 psi lower than the JDM MAP.

I myself consider the JDM MAP to be the standard/more accurate for tuning purpose.

Does your Defi sit perfectly at 0 when your key is in acc. Mine seems to almost sit at like .5psi

If you adjust the JDM MAP offset in EvoScan correctly (adjust it until you log 0.000psi with the key on/engine off), it should be the most accurate source for boost logging.

Mine seems to sit at 0.

Like ShamelessCookie said, JDM MAP is the most accurate if calibrated properly. Its directly tapped into the manifold.

I guess maybe I could just get a JDM map then just view my Defi as a reference. I just want to make sure its alteast within 1psi of a JDM Map. So if I am tuned according to the JDM map but my Defi reads something totally different that would defeat the purpose of having those expensive gauges.

How would one go about doing this?

For tuning purposes you are going to need to get some kind of boost sensor that can be logged either directly in EvoScan or in the wideband's software (Zeitronix/Innovate for example). Without that you won't be able to properly correlate boost with a particular part of the log. Not unless your the borg and can look at the boost gauge and remember exactly at what rpm and which pull it was

Thats why on this forum when people get too excited about the "Accuracy" of the more expensive gauges over the cheaper ones in many cases its not necessarily more accurate. I believe Naji at one point had a post on here about the accuracy of his Defi boost gauge but I could be wrong.

In your EvoScan Data.xml:
Code:
<DataListItem DataLog="Y" Color="" Display="JDM MAP" LogReference="JDMMAP" RequestID="38" Eval="0.19347*x-14.51025" Unit="psig" MetricEval="" MetricUnit="" ResponseBytes="1" GaugeMin="-15" GaugeMax="30" ChartMin="-15" ChartMax="30" ScalingFactor="1" Notes=""/>
In the above code, where it says Eval="0.19347*x-14.51025", the 14.51025 is what I'm subtracting to get the reading to log 0.0000psi.

Do a log with the key on/engine off and see what it shows for JDMMAP. If it's positive, then you need to subtract more. If it's negative, then you need to subtract less.

Example: Your Data.xml reads
Code:
Eval="0.19347*x-14.5"
You log 0.1412psi with key on/engine off. You need to change Eval to
Code:
Eval="0.19347*x-14.6412"

The JDM Map and the Zeitronix map have been logged simultaneously and logged the EXACT curve. The Zeitronix is accurate to 0.1psi and you can calibrate it to YOUR local atmospheric pressure on your laptop by hitting one button while the key in ON and the engine is OFF. If you want a good heads up digital reading, grab the Zeitronix boost sensor and grab their 52mm gauge.

Well I found a good deal on the Zeitronix ZT2 so I decided to go with that. On my Defi's I just love the way they look and the features they have so I have to keep them. So as far as simplicity goes should I go with the Zietronix map or JDM map, can the Zeitronix map be logged in Evoscan also? This way for tuning I can log everything I need but when driving I can have a nice gauge to give me a pretty close estimate of what I am running (if indeed the Defi are within 1psi of the JDM or Zeitronix map hopefully). To me atleast this sounds the best bet right now. Any more suggestions are much appreciated and thanks for the help guys

Every sensor offered by Zeitronix can be logged in evoscan and you can read your boost with a display in the futire so I feel its a better choice for most users.
