multiple ecu's
VIII ecu will not work in the IX.
Flash wont be detected easily - if they want to find a reason not to warranty your car a flashed ecu wont stop them.
As far as your idea goes - only in neverland could this have the possibility of working

Have you considered simply not defrauding the dealership on a warranty claim?
Pay to play. If you can't afford it, to quote someone from another forum, "Other Pursuits Beckon".

I'm sorry, was something I said funny?
I see posts like this fairly regularly on these forums, asking about ways to hide modifications from the dealership in the hopes that they'll still retain warranty coverage even though they violated the terms of their warranty. Do you endorse this kind of behavior?
(Boost, timing, and fueling changes in the ECU have a direct effect on the longevity of an engine; head gaskets, pistons, valves, rods, even water pumps fail as a result of poor tuning. Even on a stock car, someone who regularly frequents this particular forum ought to know the damage you can do without touching a single piece of hardware. The idea that the dealership should cover potentially related damage under their warranty is preposterous.)

I have never once been to a Mitsu dealership. Do I endorse fraud? Well, I guess that depends on what we define fraud as. I spend ALOT of $ on my two evo's and have never had any warranty work done. Would I reflash back to stock or keep a spare ECU to prevent Mitsu from not preforming warranty work? Well, yes. Just like the rear O2 sensor mods let me defraud state inspections.
The point is, I have the $ to just do everything myself or pay ppl to do it. That doesn't apply to everyone. If someone mods their car and then something unrelated breaks that ISN'T their fault, Mitsu SHOULD warranty it, regardless. So, if keeping a spare ECU or reflashing back to stock or whatever helps that happen, more power to whomever does it. Then again, i'm one of those sociopaths that would kill people on a daily basis if there were no consequences, so.... Who knows? Anyway, to the OP, do what you have to do.
You have MY support either way.
