Phantom Knock?
Im currently getting tuned and getting some bad phantom knock. Timing isnt really agressive, as I only see 15* max, AFR's are 10.9, clean, mild tune. Im getting about 8-10 knock counts. Its a constant now. Im guessing maybe a boost leak or maybe the exhaust is rubbing somewhere.
Im going to try a powerflex front motor mount (I notice the exhaust is moving in and out during idle and when on the dyno it sinks in alot) and do a boostleak test, Also noticed my ETS intake is laying on the ETS upper intercooler pipe and rubs metal to metal.
Anyone have any other suggestions?
Thanks

Get a copper pipe, pinch one end and mount it to the block with a bolt. Hook a hard plastic tube from the open end into the cabin and listen with headsets or whatever.
You would know for sure if it's so called phantom knock but likely you'll hear the engine pinging like they usually do at part throttle. It's no big deal though

This is WOT Pulls. Im going to make a bracket for the Intake so it stays leveled above the intercooler piping. Im going to try the polyurethane motor mount because I think my Buschur TBE might be rubbing somewhere. After I do those to ill let you know the verdict.

i have a buddy with an 8 that has a similar problem and no matter how rich or low i set his boost the knock was still there. the funny thing is that even after heat soak set in the knock didn't get worse it just stayed the same. i started looking at his knock filter maps compared to a stock rom and found that they had been changed, but even when i put them back to the stock settings it still had knock, not as much but it was still there. I told him that it may be a filter gone bad. So the jist of what i'm saying is, check your knock filter maps against a stock rom, and see what you find. It would be kinda out of the ordinary for a 9 to have a bad filter though. this and all the other guys suggestions are good things to look at. hope you figure it out, let us know.
