EcuFlash v1.35 no read defintions???Help...

There might be threads for this already, but I searched several times and came up short.

When I EcuFlash doesnt mater the version, it does not have the definitions when I go read the rom, I click read and the screen that normally comes up with "evo base 7/8" lancer.... etc comes up blank. I tryed reinstalling, and deleted the OpenEcu folder, nothing. If I go to the folders and the xml docs are there.....

do the following:
1. Click on File\Options in EcuFlash.
2. An options dialog should be show up. Select Directories->Metadata Directory, a textbox with metadata directory name should be show up on the right panel.
3. Click on the button next to the textbox and select a correct location of 'rommetadata' that's currently on your computer. Usually, this is where you installed EcuFlash, i.e. c:\program files\openecu\ecuflash\rommetadata .
4. Close EcuFlash and try again.

Good luck.

Do you have Evoscan or some form of logging software to verify your Tatrix cable is getting a signal from the ECU?

Yeah I have MitsuScan, it works fine.... I have used another computer with the same cable, and everything worked with ECU flash. On my computer, MitsuScan or logger, works fine. Just EcuFlash doesnt work

So when you connect to read the Ecu it pops up the EVO window you click Evo 7/8 and then the connect box pops up but it doesn't read?

I think you will find the balance of the ecuflash in another part of your computer. perhaps desktop or some directory. If you point to that the program will or might work.

when I open EcuFlash, and have my tactrix cable plugged in, it shows at the bottom right the connection is established I click on the read button... the window pops up where you would normally click evo 7/8 or whatever, but there is nothing there, just a blank window.

Im checking now for any remaining EcuScan files, and then Im going to reinstall

I had the same symptom before. It happened when I downloaded a new version (I guess) part of the program was ended up in another part of the computer. All I had to do was point the program at that file and bingo.

Can you do a system restore to a point to where it worked before? I'm guessing it worked before. I had to do that once before when I upgraded Ecu flash. There is a upgrade post somewhere on here on what to do.

I've never had it stop working before but I did upgrade before and not like the version and try to go back and just make a mess out of it. I used System restore last time. Its sounds like you have a system issue might want to check for Windows updates to your Dot net frame work or some other software updates.
