How many knock sum is acceptable ??

Or what is the maximum knock sum Number??

I want to know because i made a log in 4 gear and i have 8-9 Knock sum

You want to tune for 0 knock. 8-9 is terrible.

 

Zero knock is what you want. Personally, I aim for no more than three counts or so. Keep in mind that the knock sensor is maxed out at 43 counts. If the Evo ECU is anything like the DSM ECUs, factory cars (which under some circumstances WILL see knock) will keep advancing timing untill about 2-3 counts anyways.

From what I have heard, this is correct, you want to tune for 0 knock, but the computer does not retard timing untill you reach a knock count greater than three.

 

They mean tune for zero repetitive knocks, expect to see random knocks here & there thats normal in all cars.

 

yeah random knock is OK - repetitve knock at the same RPM needs to be checked and timing/fuel/boost adjusted..

dont just look at the number value of the knock, also pay attention to the quantity of them. So for guys that say 1 knocksum is not an issue. They are wrong if you log say 2700RPM through 7000RPM with a continuous stream of 1 knocksum. That is not normal even if its not consistant and only does it every other pull what not.
