will a tune with no mods make a gain?

will a reflash that optimises fuel and ignition give gains alone?

Yes. Especially if you raise the boost. I know you said no mods but it would only be a cheap MBC that is easily removable.

MBC? Why wouldn't you just increase the boost electronically? Yes, there's a limit to how far you can go with that without a pill or replacement BCS, but there are gains to be had there without a single hardware change.

***** and springs are so 1990s.

Definitely can tune and get gains. No need for a Manual Boost Controller. The stock one works fine and would only need to remove a pill that is in one of the vacuum lines.

The EVO is so constricted by the exhaust, I suggest at least a 3" TBE before a tune. The engine needs to breath out. The intake side is pretty good at these levels. The biggest single gain is the cat delete pipe. So, even a stock exhaust can be improved.

Definitely exhaust but please!!!! use a high flow cat. The Perrin Metal HFC has no restriction and keeps exhaust clean. When I swapped out the stock cat for the Perrin HFC it made a huge difference in sound and responsiveness. I road tune so not sure how much I picked, but EvoScan added 10hp.

stock EVO , with no changes can see 10-25 HP&TQ. Using a better form of boost control (pills w/ stock solenoid, 3 port or MBC) along with the tune, will net your 20-30 HP&TQ.

Logic, using a 3 port or pills with the stock solenoid, can be better, but is not for everyone. This guy seems like hes keeping it simple and tuning a ECU controlled boost curve can sometime take longer and be more complicated then just throwing a MBC on.

EDIT: Logic, sorry, I misunderstood you. Yeah, you can eek out a couple lbs of boost at peak boost and make it taper a lil less without any hardwear changes.
