what do you think?

Today I went to a local shop and got a tune, I have 3in TBE,ported o2 housing, mbc at 23psi and turbo xs fmic with the stock 2003 evo 8 turbo, my car has 78k on it. I made 284hp and 263ft lbs. It was dynoed on a mustang dyno. Should I be expecting more or is this about right?

well youre actually putting down more power than that. if you would have got tuned on a dynojet you wouldve seen 300.

1000cc injectors is a waste of money and time unless you're planning on running E85

Those injectors are overkill...and you'd be better off with Kelford 272s imo Oh and you'd for sure want to invest in a walboro fuel pump.

I know plenty of guys up in mn that are running hks 280's and love it. The injectors are perfect for e85, I will have a walbro real soon, I just have to go pick it up.

the only thing is i dont recommend running 280 cams on a daily driver. just a little too aggressive for the street. im running a 272 setup and it has a nice lopey idle and makes good power. you should go with a fp green instead of a 9 turbo. the green may cost a little more but in my opinion is worth the few extra hundred. you can achieve more power with a green also. good luck

20Grockit you've been around long enough I can't believe you're spreading this misinformation. HKS 280's are AWESOME for the street. Yes a little loppy at idle but I have 25k miles of hard daily driving on mine +35whp peak, +50whp in the midrange, these cams are the shiz.

Also, saying that he's 'actually putting down more power than that' is totally silly and a great way to spread misinformation. Different dynos read differently, that is what you mean to say. A Dyno Dynamics dyno reads lower than a mustang reads lower than a dynojet, that's all.

skatermsmn, I assume you went to RS for your tune? Those numbers are right-on what I'd expect out of their dyno. I run mitsu-style.com (local mn mitsu club), you should hop on there and come to our fall dyno day (yet to be anounced). 1000cc injectors are perfect for E85 on your setup, Shane @ DB (in Rogers) has a lot of experience tuning evos on E85, might wanna give him a call.

Scheides, I am mike55112 on mitsustyle.com. I was mostley refering to you about the 280's since you told me so many good things about your expirence, I also have talked to others with 280's and they love them for there DD. I did go to rs motors for my tune, he said that he has had only 1 or 2 other guys with the same mods as me make that much power at 23psi.

+1 on everything. The only drawback to 280's on a stock 8 turbo is the power curve is more towards a 1/4 mile setup rather than a midrange street setup, although TOTALLY streeable and tuneable with ease these days.

He wouldn't be making or gaining anymore power from a mustang to dynojet......he would just get a bigger "number" but the power output of the car would not change.
