1000ccs on stock ECU

So I was setting up an appointment with my local tuner to get tuned on 93 after I put my 1000cc injectors in, and he told me that there might be some drivability issues with such a large injector on the stock ECU. He said he would do it, but the fact that the injectors were twice the size of the stock ones would make it a bit more challenging, and he wouldn't go any larger than an 880 on stock ECU.

I know I wouldn't be the only one running 1000s on the stock ECU, so I was wondering if anyone could share their experiences with them. The reason I am going so large is because I will eventually be doing a second map for E85.

Any input appreciated. Since he said he'd do it, I'm going to go ahead with it for the sake of science!

I know a lot of people who run 1000cc with pump gas with no issues. You might have to find a tuner who can scale the injectors. I'm running stock ecu, 1000cc PTE injectors, E85 and it runs like stock. I'm not sure what your tuner says about drive ability issues. There are even people that run larger with stock ecu. Get some E85, take your injectors and go to AMS.

^^ What he said. I know of a car that has FIC 1050 with Kelford cams in it. It idles rough because of the cams, but the car doesnt hunt at idle and it has no stalling issues.

they just have to be scaled correctly..you wouldnt be using them to their full potential but its nice to have them in there if you plan on having more power in the future

I would go E85 all the time, but my route to work is through an E85 blackhole... I don't want to have to drive 15-20 miles out of my way to get gas. Also, I just bought the car, and I want a base tune (on gas I can get) that I can fall back on and build an E85 map from. Car is going to AMS to get the tune.

yeah that would make sense... 2x the injector = 1/2 the IDC. I'm slow sometimes...

Tephra, what latencies did you use? Got the same injectors ready to install.

It isn't a problem if your "tuner" knows how to scale them properly and/or has experience.

1200's arent even a problem on gas or E85/98.

The 1680's I have now (Ford motorsport 160#) will not work on gas but have scaled on E85 fairly easy. Still getting use to them, and at this point I do not need the MAFT Pro for fuel correction like I did initially. I have most of the gasoline out so it works fine.

Does anyone have recommendations for which 1000cc injectors to buy? There are quite a few options. People seem to have luck with RC and PTE/FIC but what about deatschwerks and TTP?
