First Logs with WB (weird knock up top)

So here is my tune...I did a few pulls and cleaned up the fuel and timming. Im getting a lot of Knock up top for some reason. From the tunes I have looked at the timming past 5500 is pretty safe...still getting knock any Ideas? I had the stock PVC hooked up for about 20K miles...so the only thing I can think is that there may be some oil film in the IC 24-25 psi...mods in Sig

Look at the AFRs after 7K it goes rich...Im kinda feeling weird about taking more fuel out there...is this normal to have 11's on the flash at 220 load @ 7K?

IM ON 93 OCTANE

Here is my opinion.... take it as a grain of salt.

low 11's are good, if you're too rich up top you still need to pull some fuel, but since there is like 5 counts of knock (anything over 2 needs to be addressed IMO) I'd pull 1-2 degrees of timing and see if it gets rid of the knock first.

.... just realized that you're talking about the number in the map, not your A/F. That number is just something the ECU references.

It just seems low on the timming side...the stock maps have more timming than mine

Well, you are running more boost.

i would try to lower the boost 1-2 psi and then log... if that cures the knock then run lower boost... If you indeed keep 21 psi at the redline then you might want to cut a degree or to on the timing...

What gas do you use?

i remember when i had the stock turbo that after 7000 my boost would fall under 20psi probably around 17ish by 7800rpm... Thats 4 psi difference than you but i was running more timing too up top...probably cloer to 15 degrees...

i would try two scenarios:
1. lower the boost to 22-23 and then log again...
2. leave the boost the same and pull 1-2 degrees timing... around 9 max i guess
report findings...

I have a feeling that its your gas... i am curious bc all my previous maps on the stock turbo had more timing than yours...

Im on 93 Oct. I only use BP fuel. I guess I could try Shell or Mobile.

I feel ya on the timming....weird. I guess I could try to top it off with some shell. Im going to do the E85 switch soon...Im sick of this gas issue.

I might switch over to that...Shell is the closest station to my house. I have heard BP is the best. The problem is the BP stations by me dont move a lot of fuel and are ran by low lifes. Im not sure how gas stations work, but I think some may cheap out on fuel if they can. The Shell station by me moves a lot of fuel....problem is I got a bad tank from the once. I guess I could switch and see what happens. This is my first wack at tunning so we will see how it goes, its not too hard...just got to do baby steps. You mind sending me one of your tunes so I can see what your workin with? What kind of timming do you run 3500-4500 (high boost area?)

it goes rich probably coz u have lean spool still enabled. 7000 is the leanspool disable.

second you need to reduce timing from 7000-11000 240-300 load - i know you may not hit that normally but still....

I actually have lean spool disabled...I set the start/stop to 2500. I will reduce timming in that area...Thanks for chimming in Tephra.

Question on what the ECU uses...lets say the Timming in the 220 Load area @ 4000 RPMS is at 5 Deg of timming and the 240 block is at 7 deg, and the load on the car is 230? Does the ECU use 5 deg, 7deg or does it average and use 6 deg. Im trying to understand the ECU better.

it averages it...

so if you timing was 0 @ 200, and 10 @ 220 then the following would be true:

200 = 0
205 = 2.5
210 = 5
214 = 7
215 = 7.5
220 = 10

Of course .5 doesn't work so it would round it.

But don't forget the ECU doesn't use the raw load - it uses a baro+temp corrected load which could be upto 10points higher or lower than the raw load.

Cool thanks! By looking at my tune...why do you think Im getting knock up top? When the timming is at 8,9,10 deg...its seems low.
