Stepper table question

My throttle is hanging. I have various threads posted recently about it. It isn't the normal hang for half a second. When I boost to redline and let off, it will stop at 4K RPM on the way down and sit there until I shift to a higher gear to force it to go lower. Sparing the details, it doesn't appear to be mechanical. Below is a screen shoft of the stock ROM stepper table for my car, and the one on the right is what mine currently is. When it hangs up at 4K, you can see it on the scanner sitting at 160. Is this the cause? If it isn't, why are they so much higher now? Mods in my sig. They would have been that way before the cams and LICP though.

Okay I just looked at some of the other tables. My car was tuned by AMS before I got it and done another time after the cams and LICP about two weeks ago. My High Octane Fuel map and Low and High Octane Ignition Map 1 are idential to the 96940011 file I have. This doesn't make sense to me..? Am I missing something?

Your steps look really high at the bottom right. I had to lower mine down there to get rid of the hang. I didn't have any noticeable hang until I got cams either. Mine's a IX though, if it makes a difference.

Also, your x-axis is scaled incorectly. Change it to Temp in your xml, and it will read coolant temp instead units.

The map on the left is a IX table and the right is a VIII. No clue why they are so drastically different, but they are both stock maps.

The one on the right is what my car currently has. I looked at the file to see because I noticed it looked different, and it started as 96940011.

What about the rest of it TB? (my question from post #2) Shouldn't those other maps be changed quite a bit with my mods? The only change was to the 500 RPM row in the Low Octane Fuel Map.

Yes, the other maps should be modified. The main changes will be in the high octane fuel and timing maps. If those haven't changed then something isn't jiving. now, if you've got some weird scaling or something it could be a definition issue.

The maps are identical to the 96940011 file. The 500 RPM cells all the way out through the 220 load cell were raised, and that's seems to be the only change, and that's only in the Low Octane Fuel Map. The other important ones are unchanged. Other than the Stepper Table.

So for this problem with the Stepper Table, do you think just back off to the stock VIII table or go even further?

I think I need to get with the tuner about the other tables..

Sorry, I was mistaken ... the left is a IX table and the right is a VIII. Unless you've changed the TB these tables should not need to change. Look around the throttle hang thread toward the end and try some of those tables if you think it might be the issue.

EDIT :: Yes, first try the stock table for your ROM.

Load vs Temp...

Not that that will fix the problem

Reduce the far right column from half-way down to like 80

The one on the left is what comes up from the 96940011 file I downloaded here: http://evoecu.logic.net/wiki/96940011 It should be an '05 USDM one, not one for the IX's.

I think someone above also mentioned to change the x-axis to temp. From what you're saying though, the far right column should get rid of all the 100+ numbers and try 80?

You're right ... they changed to that table in '05 for the USDM Evo.

This pretty much my current table ... I've changed it to keep the 136 in the lower right, but the rest is the same.

I just ordered the cable to flash my ECU, so I can't do anything yet.

I'll be changing my stepper table ASAP though to see if it fixes it.
