So...if we want to know what our stock base timing would roughly be with this FAA bit11 disabled, we can take a look at a JDM timing map? What rom ID is from a JDM (non-EGR) evo?

leaving this bit enabled (it comes enabled) basically drops between 3* and 8* of timing when under 3500rpm, low load areas.

disabling this bit stops this reduction in timing.

I suggest b4 disabling it, get a good baseline log of low load timing + knock. THEN disable the bit and then relog - if you get more knock then you will need to reduce the timing a little...

Yes!

Did this mod about 2 months ago.
Everything still running smoothly. Just drop you timing in the low load areas by about 3 degrees before you disable the bit - just in case!

This mod makes your car's daily driving characteristics more consistent.

Go for it, you wont be sorry!

yeh i never had a problem with it.

as per above, just drop your low load igntion prior to doing it, then ramp it back up after logging/checking for knock

Hi Guys,

I have tephra v7 + mods on my car (ony got round to it today) and doing some logs it seems to be ADDING timing above the 90 load... i haven't gone above 200 load yet but from 90 -200 it will add anything from 2-5 deg more advance compared to my timing map and its not consistant with the add either... any thoughts?

thankfully my car is not tuned yet so i have conservative timing (dont want to go over mbt on e85) so no knock.

Mike
