Hmmmm ... what are the settings on your EBC? It looks to me like you spiked above the boost limit on the EBC and it pulled down the duty cycle to protect the car.

I agree. I'm still going with the EBC as the issue here.

Here's the airflow vs. the rest...

something happened indeed and the airflow was reduced but maybe thats it because of the lower load??? i am not sure...

my ebc has a setup duty cycle, no gain, and it works closed loop thus giving it the ability to correct as necessary to keep the specific duty cycle... My wastegate is a 44mm tial unit with a 15 psi spring i believe...

I am hitting 300 load on 23psi, I am also running the stock exhaust, so I don't know if that is helping that. Only mods are filter, downpipe, o2 housing, blitz dual sbc and self tune. My ebc has a built in gauge and typically shows 1psi lower then what the JDM Map sensor reports. I hit 23psi peak and it logs right at about 300 load and it tapers to 21 at redline and 270 load. I don't know if any of this info helps, but you really should get the map sensor, it's not that pricey for what you are getting.

Thats crazy, with my alky and 28-29psi peak I hit just over 300 load 21psi at redline would be more like 230 load.

Am I reading this wrong? Here is a shot from EvoScan. First couple runs hit boost cut, I adjusted boost cut and logged the run below it. It's been running really well, I would say by seat of the pants its making atleast 70hp over stock, it hauls major butt compared to when I first got it. 322 ft/lbs at that 300load/4000rpm according to EvoScan. I am new to tuning, so I may be mistaken here.

Have you done a boost leak test and when you stop filling the system, how long does it take to lose pressure? I'm pretty sure boost leaks can cause higher load readings.

I haven't done a boost leak check recently, because it has been running so well. The last time I did one, the pressure went down very slowly, like atleast a minute. If I can get some time, I'll do one. I never see any irregularity in any of the pulls I do while driving around town. If boost was leaking, wouldn't I see some kind of side effects?

MR2, do a boost leak test ... Load is calculated from the MAF reading. So, if the turbo is busting it's butt to pull air through the MAF but it isn't getting to the engine, the load reading will be high in comparison to boost. Efficiency is reduced as the turbo is overworked.

Does it reduce the duty cycle for overboost protection? If so, w/o gain it may not correct itself back to the defined duty after overboost.

That makes sense. Thank you! I better check it.

I think has such feature. Need to check the manual and my settings... It's upseting that I lost my 11 second pass from an overboost...

sounds to me like an issue with the EBC. And the fact that there is no knock and higher timing confirms this idea. For some reason (maybe overboost protection) the EBC pulled down your boost. You never had any knock, and the lower loads placed you in different cells in your timing map which probably had higher timing values becuase of the lower load.

Logging boost would be helpfull.

spiking load values of 300 and then settling down to 260 is behavior typical of a car with a rather high boost spike compared to where the boost settles. I think logging boost will confirm a 24psi or greater spike and then settling to 22 psi.
