Disabling Various ECU Functions

I'm a minimalist type, I was wondering how much of a benefit disabling some of the ECU functions may be to overall performance.

I use a MBC, so I was wondering if it is possible to disable the entire boost control routine through the ECU Periphery bits and if so, would it be beneficial to ECU performance?

Also, I would like to disable a good portion of the OBD-II checks just to improve ECU performance. It seems like a lot of the EVAP and EGR bits are inter-related and I was wondering which checks can be disabled without negative affects on engine performance?

Yes, I know disabling emissions controls is wrong, but honestly, I figure I'm running a cat so I'm not all that bad. I just want to speed up the ECU between emissions checks and hopefully get a car that's a little more responsive to tuning changes.

me too. hopefully in the future, we just will have a 'lite' ecu rom or something. once unearthing how everything ties into each other, those bits of code could basically be deleted. people are figuring out stuff everyday and i'm learning too. when not looking at a full plate, mods/changes/manipulations/etc become 100x easier too for the end user. the rom isn't that big to start out with though, but there is a lot of crap that could basically be nixed.

i wish i had the time to just write crap from scratch. that would take some undertaking mixed in with engine theory/compatible sw/test-benching/engine em/simulatior/etc. i know one day it will be done--by some average joe with a little/lot bit of time and a drive.

Yeah, if I could have an ECU that did fuel and spark well and then let me know if a major sensor was malfunctioning and had a kick *** data log rate, I'd be happy.

Being able to load up a stock ROM when emissions came around and pass with flying colors would be icing on the cake.

Yeah I have been thinking about it... believe me.

Trouble is there is a lot of stuff the stock ECU does well.

yeah thats after you've had your way with the rom. lol.

seriously though, it does. thats why it would just take a damn good amount of time re-engineering the stuff thats already done well. i'm still waiting for my 'break-out in ecu-patching' to kick in haha.
