HELP: unable to read/write to ECU with ECUFLASH

I cannot to read/write to ECU with ECUFLASH.

I was able to flash without any problem until my battery ran out of juice. I recharged it and now everything works fine except that it cannot be flashed.

I read some prior threads about this and so far I've tried:
new battery, checked fuse, unlock tool (even though I know it isn't locked), reinstall and install ECUFlash, different laptop, different cable

Evoscan works fine so I'm guessing it has to do with the smaller white plug, not the OBDII plug.

Any help will be appreciated

Thanks

so did u flash and then the battery ran out mid flash?

if so you ROM might be corrupt - try flashing IMMEDIATLEY after key-on, ie key-on and quickly hit the flash button... b4 the ECU has time to do anything..

how long u charged the battery for? Might need longer!

Tephra, wouldn't a corrupt ROM not allow the car to start or run?

Sounds like a locked ROM to me, not sure how a battery failure could kill the white plug.

it isn't a locked ECU, as I was able to flash before my battery mishap.

i tried to flash right after i turned the key but no luck.

I tried to read from my ECU with the engine running but also no luck.

I charged it for 1.5-2 hrs at 20amp

my volt readings are (i get different volt readings from my tt and evoscan:

engine off:
11.90 evoscan
12.2 hks turbo timer

engine running:
13.9-14.1 evoscan
12.4-12 hks turbo timer

I think u need to charge longer - maybe overnight?

At least do that to rule out the battery problem!

Understand your ECU was unloacked before, but I think mrfred's unlocker has been used successfully to get into an ECU in your situation. Give it a shot after full recharge.

lol, Evo ecu electronics are a lot more resilient than you think. If you ask me a battery failure during reflash won't worry it a single bit, especially if it wasn't during the kernel load (which is only 0.05% of the reflash process, so you only have 1 in 200 chance that the kernel load was corrupted, even then a battery reset will fix that.

my feeling is that the cable is faulty or the ecu needs another reset, just disconnect the battery for 30 seconds.

1) disconnect the battery for 30 seconds. then try and read the ROM
2) try someone elses cable.
3) try someone elses laptop and cable.

you wont need ecu unlocker, because the failsafe init code is #FFFF and that is attempt number 3 in the default reflash init process.

if you can start your car, you definately have the required battery voltage for reflashing. You need about 11.8V for reflashing, and you need about 11.8V for the starter motor. After the car is running on the alternator for 30 seconds you will definately have enough charge to reflash.

the error is most likely to be:

sending init 0000
sending init 0001
sending init FFFF

then it just times out.
