check continuity between the 12pin reflash plug (officially pin26, but really its pin 5 or last of 3 on the notch side, its the corner pin) and the ecu harness (pin 79) see the XLS doc on my website if you don't know which is pin 79. 3rd pin from the right on the top row.

I pull the power during reflash testing everyday, never had my evo7/8 ecus become non flashable yet.

tried charging longer and tried disconnecting the battery but still no luck.

Checked the ecu harness for pin 79 also

On the reflash plug, is there suppose to be a corner pin that sticks out? kind of like a needle in the female plug?

I was able to flash without any problem until my battery ran out of juice. I recharged it and now everything works fine except that it cannot be flashed.

I read some prior threads about this and so far I've tried:
new battery, checked fuse, unlock tool (even though I know it isn't locked), reinstall and install ECUFlash, different laptop, different cable

Evoscan works fine so I'm guessing it has to do with the smaller white plug, not the OBDII plug.

Any help will be appreciated

Thanks
Try doing what tephra said after the car has been warmed up to full operating temp. I'm guessing the car is cold; my own car is very finicky when it is cold. Blast the heater to warm the ecu and then read and write immediatlely after you kill the engine.

yeah really focus on that pin 79 plug (EEPROM reflash voltage line), make sure it has connectivity to that reflash wire on the cable. check with a voltmeter the voltage during reflashing attempts. let me know what it it.

if you can, try a friends ecu in place of yours, see if it can be reflashed, will tell you if its the wiring or the ecu itself.
