If you disable the immobilizer it will fire right up.

Just a heads up.

Different family type, thats the issue immobiliser or not. I have yet to see a 941 work on a car equipped with a 964.

Works on my car which happens to be a 96420008 rom.

Drove around with Tephra's 5.1 patch for nearly a month just had to disable the immobilizer.

My car is a 2004 RS same as the guy in the comment.

Hmm I stand corrected. I experimented with this to get V5 for the 96420008 and couldnt get the 94170015 to work in that car. It may have been a 011 originally that I flashed to an 008 then tried the 03 ROM...cant remember now.

Wish I could get the 94170015 map to work on my 04 RS. Currently on a 96420007. Be nice to have some control of the knock. Car has phantom knock regardless of fuel and timing.
Getting annoying. Would mod the 96420007 map if I had the correct xml for the knock/load table.

My .02...

The versions for the 03-04 from Mitsubishi are 94170008-->94170014-->94170015.

Barring a bad sector or something in the rom these are interchangeable.

The fact that tephra modded roms work on many cars (mine included) makes me suspect that there were other hardware or rom writing factors at work, not something incompatible with the tephra rom itself.

Yes and no. I run a modded 0015 rom in my 03, as well as you do. The OP wanted to know if the 94170015 works in ALL 03-04 Evos, not just 03's. I have found quite a few 04's that run the 96420007/0008 roms from the factory and have never had any luck getting them to fire up with the 94170008/14/15 patched rom. Going back up a few posts though, I read that it IS possible.....

Early Evo, refer up to post #18 earlier in the thread. RoadSpike seems to have found a way to run the 94170015 rom in his 04 that ran a 94620008 originally.

I was hoping it would work on my 04 RS since others got it to work. No luck. Hoping I get someone to help me mod this 0007 or 0008 ROM to work with the knock vs RPM. On E85 right now I am lucky the P300 seems to be gone!!! But the phantom knock from run to run makes no sense other than the ROM is very sensitive. Was optimistic the 015 would fix a lot of those problems. When I changed the XML file on the 0007. Didn't work.

oh this is not very good news at all.. i just went through the trouble of yanking my autronic sm4 without knock control in favour of evo viii ecu which appears to have a 9642007 rom on it. i have this ecu retrofitted to a vi and was really hoping to take advantage of all the recent ecu patches especially jcsbanks recent knock tuning. if anyone wants to have a look at my thread and comment i would appreciated it.

since its a 6 you dnot need to worry about the immob.

in which case you can run whatever 7/8 ROMID you like.

so pick one that has the most support and try flashing it (with immob disable of course)

dont forget to copy any maps you need!
