We get that a lot, although not many people actually need a 7bar map sensor we did install one on a normally aspirated acura integra for about 1 month. we logged fuel mileage before and after with no significant changes noticed or any difference in the way the engine performed. Frankly it would be much easier to just have 1 model 7 bar to fit everything but most have drawn a conclusion that there is some giant and significant "resolution difference" . The ecu is ultra sensative to voltage changes in the smallest of increments so it can precisely calculate the fuel and spark at each engine rpm and map pressure/vacuum.

7bar, that depends on the resolution of the ADCs and not the sensor though. Problems with larger MPA sesnors also shows up with large injectors on little motors trying to idle below 1000 RPM.

The EVO is currently an 8-bit ADC (for data logging) which makes for 2.745 kPa (0.398 PSI) resolution on a 7bar MAP sensor. Fine for data logging, probably a little coarse for engine management.

It can do higher resolution though.

yeah but SD or whatever you would use the 10bit ADC (0 to 1023)... its just mainly for logging the 8bit is convenient...

The MAP sensor scaling in the 9 is used in a calculation that limits MAF readings on lift off, which is why the jump to 255 doesn't really matter.

So how does the ecu know what voltage to apply at what psi if there is no calibration? I have always been stumped over that.

The ECU supplies 5V to the sensor and it is grounded. The output is proportional to manifold absolute pressure (+- an offset if the sensor has one). The table in question is scaling that value (in a non-linear fashion) to form part of the lift off MAF limiting code.

My SD conversion uses a table (MAP sensor VE and calibration) that takes a raw ADC input and spits out the load that that should represent. We make the table user friendly in Ecuflash by applying a scaling to change the raw ADC input into MAP (kPa).

(There is another table that corrects for RPM as well).

Has anyone tested the new scaling for the 4-bar that would care to report the settings they are using? I'm looking to purchase shortly and would like to have it reading accurately for logging purposes

Not to reserect yet another dead thread, but, i am currently looking at the same Omni specimen.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...3AIT&viewitem=

Same find here now that it is April, almost may. I was looking at this, did we ever find out what exactly needed to be done to the Stock ECU I am running, to get this thing to read.
Running a Cobb Stage 2 tune currently, with supporting mods.
Any help appreciated. Thanks again.

I have spent yesterday and most of today playing with the scaling on my new 4bar. I want to make sure its 100% dialed before I go to solely ECU speed density (right now using a piggyback for the SD conversion). So far so good but realistically as long as the voltage scale matches set points on the 0-255 it will always be good. The boost logging with the 0.238683 variable is also accurate versus my boost gauge which hasnt lied to me with the JDM 3 bar.

Order them up. In fact they are a stocking item I carry now and I am willing to organize a group buy, but I will post that in another thread to not clog this one with that stuff. Give me the rest of weekend and I will put up all my data

When you use the ECU directly you have 10 bit resolution (0-1023) internally and with my SD (and mrfred's US ECU conversions). I think resolution at idle is probably better than MAF, certainly sounds smoother.

Good stuff, post up your findings and a link to your group buy if you set it up. GSC had a killer deal on these as well.
