you need a 3 bar jdm map sensor and you're rom needs to be updated accordingly

Has it been confirmed if the EVO X's map sensor is the same JDM 3 BAR MAP?

Yea, the evo x sensor will work in evo 8's and 9's to log boost. I just ordered mine from mitsubishiparts.net for $125 shipped

This question is particularly interesting for the Evos that have no MAP sensor as standard (8880017, for example).

Is it somehow feasible to install it in that case?

I'm not real sure to be honest. check the link given in this thread - I haven't got my sensor yet so I haven't taken the time to figure out what I need to do to the rom . I just know something has to be done.

Yes it is an update, the stock map sensor can only read up to 1 bar of boost so you have to make the adjustments for it to be able to read 3 bars now.
I just ordered mine from a groupbuy here so I should be receiving it very soon...will keep you posted on how the setup goes.

Actually we have no sensor.
EDM Evos don't have EGR, so no pressure sensor is available.

Also, can I use the AVC-R's sensor to do it somehow?
