my car has had low knock counts coming on at 2.5k to 3.25k or so since I've owned it. It will knock on spool up , ie getting on the throttle a bit for a hill or easing into wot or just stomping it at 3k. on the highway its the worst. ( I use the tephra cel flasher)

sounds like a boost leak, greddy valve the car came with was shot. so i put on a good valve, no change. Other than that, small leaks from the injector seals.

I've logged it and pulled timing in those areas, and no change. Logs all look the same. I'll get a log up here this week if I take the car out. I just installed my wide band and drove around the block. low tens when it knocks usually.

Any thoughts? a direction for me to head in when I start working on it next?

 

Is lean spool enabled ? Stock injectors and fuel pump ? Have you checked for exhaust touching anything esp cross braces ( false knock )

Also you have a 2003. Have the injectors been cleaned ( poor atomisation but then rich out the exhaust with unburnt fuel ) 10's are a little low. 11.2 -11.5 is much better

Post up your timing maps and AFR maps, along with logs including spool up from 2000 to 4500

My dp indeed does touch the cross brace, it rattles when taking off from a stop sometimes.

Stock injectors have never been removed. PTE 1000ccs are on the way. It has a single wally in it which , on a side note, I believe sounds weird. ( more than whines).

any parts installed while I've owned it have had no apparent effects on the knock. ( I don't drive the car more than around the block here and there til I get all my parts on)

I'll pull my rom and get some logs on here tomorrow.

 

WOT usually exterminates any part throttle knock.
