cam install and idle issues

hi im new to the tune thing. i just put some cams in my car(727 10.5) obviously i have the rough idle. i understand i need to add 3 to 4 degrees timing and pull a bit of fuel. so having said so how do i do it? lol. i mean im really new to this so what do i tackle first? what is high octane map and low octane map, which one do i modify first? how do i save and load? those are my issues so far? hoping for some input and looking forward to chatting with you guys, im planning to tune the car entirely step by step with your help.

ix stock turbo, fuel pump, ported mani, o2, full exhaust, intake, lower icp, boost controller, and obviously wideband and boost gauge.

You need to get your car running so we can race already.

From my experience I raise the timing in the low load/low RPM area by 4 - 5* and actually increased the AFR in closed loop by adjusting the injector latency (11 & 14v). When you install cams, it usually becomes leaner at idle and lean idle = rough.

Edit* I noticed you have a IX so I would also decrease the overlap in the low load / low RPM area.

im still having trouble cleaning up the idle. the car is not responding it seems. im modifying a copy of my map and then i turn the ignition on and then write to ecu, so now in the process somewhere in between is there a step where i save what i did and than write?

What do your fuel trims look like? Also, resetting the fuel trims after writing to the ECU everytime has been giving me better results. You can reset them by unplugging the ECU and plugging it back in.

I'm pretty sure you mean "272" duration camshafts, not "727". If you want the quick cheater method, just raise the idle to around 1000 rpm and start tuning your cams from there.

take it to Ivey before you blow your engine .. Since you are a novice, I wouldn't want to experiment with tunning the ECU especially since you added new parts to your engine.

Post up some logs at idle (12+ minute logs), that'll show what's going on and be able to help you out better.
