Question Evo 7 question & tuning

Hi guys,

I'm new here! very good forum you have here I've already read through many threads and you have awakened my interest to tune my evo own!

So i am from austria and 19 years old!

My evo is a 7 an in black with around 50000 km everything is already original! Only the clutch, breaks an tyres are exchanged to better.

My question is how much power you can achieve without exhaust, fuel pump etc?

Is the ralliart rom the best for me or should I make an own rom?

Can some one send me an already tuned rom?

I need the rom to learn by myself and create one too!

I've currently using the original compared ralliarts and yes a third or a fourth would be even better!

I hope you have understood it with my bad English

Thanks

Using maps from another car isn't a good idea. There are just too many variables to account for from atmospheric pressure of that location to the octane that car was tuned for. It's best to log and tune you're own car or have a professional tuner remap it for you.

My question is how much power you can achieve without exhaust, fuel pump etc?
This is a very broad question. And could be answered a number of ways, but I'm going to tell you it's best to upgrade your fuel pump to a Walbro 255 lph irrespective of a remap or not. The stock pump isn't the most reliable on the VII. The stock exhaust is restrictive, and any decent 3" turbo back exhaust is just free hp waiting to come out...I don't why why you wouldn't wan to upgrade this as well.

Then there's the issue of what octane gas you are using in Austria. On a stock VII GSR turbo (TD05HR-16G6-9.8T) and injectors I wouldn't run any more than 21-22 psi. Anything after that and you're just pushing hot air and stretching the injectors. At that boost, with good gas and tuning I'm sure you can net somewhere around 300 whp.

I wont use another map, i want to learn from it and compare it with other maps.

I cant do a log because i dont own the cable, I only buy one if I am slightly familiar.

The Evo was very expensive for me and I have currently not enough money to tune him.

Most Evo VII people are using the 90550001 ROM modded by tephra. The best way to learn would be to read the thread at the top, "How to tune and Evo". Save up some money get a cable and a wideband sensor and go from there.

You would be very wise to follow R.Mutts advice about the pump and exhaust, and I strongly advise Goodridge hoses and uprated brake pads such as Performace friction.

Get saving and enjoy the car.
