Changing mininum speed on launch control?
Changing mininum speed on launch control?
Is there a way we can change the minimum speed for launch control from zero to something like 2 mph? My launch control is uber touchy. When I'm running a pro-tree it makes it very difficult to keep it on the limiter.
I swear I had seen a table defined for the IX for sure and I think for other ROMs as well. I thought the OE spec was 2 or 5km/h or something along those lines. I can't find it in any of my recent defs back to 1.34 though.

So far, I only have found the values for the 88590015 ROM:
-------
<scaling name="VehicleSpeedFreq" units="km/h" toexpr="x*0.25" frexpr="x/0.25" format="%.1f" min="0" max="64" inc="0.2" storagetype="uint16" endian="big"/>
<table name="Max Speed for Stationary Rev Limit" address="2796" category="Misc Limits" type="1D" scaling="VehicleSpeedFreq"/>
<table name="Stationary Rev Limit Cross Under Max Speed Enable Delay" address="287a" category="Misc Limits" type="1D" scaling="Time"/>
-------
These will be included in the next release of ECUFlash.

Any reason why this might be there (or reason to keep it)? Only thing I can think is if your speed sensor was intermittant/cutting out. I'll probably lower mine to 1 second

FYI, you can calculate the MPH or km/h using this: http://www.apexgarage.com/tech/gear_ratios.shtml
For all cars you want to use a stock tire diameter of 25.327 " (assuming 235/45-17 since that is all the ECU knows)
For the IX SE important ratios are:
1st: 2.785
2nd: 1.95
Final: 4.529
RPM: set to whatever your launch RPM is.
(For the Evo IX MR all you need to change is 1st: 2.909 )
For me this returns a whopping 53 km/h. Knowledge from my DSMLink days says you definitely don't want to set your value this high, even though that seems logical. I'll probably set mine to 16km/h (~10mph). Hopefully this will help save my poor little stock clutch for a few more days of track time.
Edit: you can also use this site for a simpler 500 RPM step "view" (but only in mph) http://www.kabamus.com/garage/gears.html
MrFred: Do you know if the timer starts counting down as soon as you are below the set speed or is it when you hit 0 km/h?

-The second is (as far as I can tell) the max speed at which the two-step will still be active (IE where it will switch to your normal rev limit)
-The third seems to be a timer to pause and enable the new rev limit, likely so that someone who had a loose/intermittant speed sensor wouldn't be flipping between their normal and 2-step rev limits. This would make your car pretty angry going down the track in gear at WOT to suddenly think it was 2k RPM over the limiter

Thanks to MR Fred for finding this so fast!

thanks bro.
so if i interpret ur answer correctly.
1. should stay the same as what mrfred set it as.
2. set to 5 km/h that should be suitable IMO.
3. what do i do here lol.....just when i thought i was good with these table thingys.

Be cautious about the time value. I used an existing scaling. It may not be correct. It would be great if someone could try, maybe enter a value of 10 sec.
