As far as I am concerned, 96530006 be fine to should run all evo 8's EXCEPT the dual boost solenoids (ie 9626000x)

In terms of the amount of work that the coders do having fewer ROM's is certainly a godsend

Once V7 is final I think(hope) there will be a lot more users trying 96530006 over 941700xx, 96940011, 964200xx, etc..

I'll try switching from the 94170015 to the 96530006 The best thing you can do Dave (the Aussie Dave lol) is to only submit the minimal ROM's you want to have on your plate so everyone is forced to make the switch to one of the ROM's you offer if they want the glorious features you supply. Once people get used to there only being a few ROM ID's, it will become the norm rather quickly.

I prefer the 96530006 these days, and it's all I use on '03-'04 ecu swapped 2g eclipses as well due to not having to deal with cam/crank sensor codes being thrown when using 94170015.

I agree, being fairly new to this and struggling at times, I'd like to see a more "set" amount of ROM's used and released with support. I'd venture to say within just a short few months it would quickly turn into the normal thing to use/do rather than it seeming so difficult.

I am also willing to switch to the 96530006 ROM if someone has one I can get started with. Not sure I can find anything useful or be of help but I'd give it a shot.

BTW, Tephra, did you get my paypal a few weeks ago?

I did - thanks very much

Although paypal must be having email problems as I didn't get a notication, the $$$'s just showed up

ps - The only problem I am aware of atm with 96530006 is a P0505 CEL, apparently there is a workaround - and im not even sure if its a real problem as it seems to be 50/50 whether you get the CEL or not...

I believe it will end up being so. The beta Tephra mod 3006 worked great on my old 03 that came with 0008.

I remember the 03 guys initially trying to run 05 code without success. It appears this was due to some immobilizer issues that have seen been corrected.

96530006 FTW! I switched from my USDM '05 96940011 ROM a few months back and have not looked back. I do think the 96530006 ROM can be the VIII's universal ROM. Had to readjust my BISS after the switch, but that's an easy fix. Have not had a SINGLE issue since.

Big ups to the guys behind the stock ECU disassembly. You have all done an amazing job!!!

So what would be the best rom id to use on a dual boost solenoid evo eg. evo 8 mr jdm? currently using 96260009 as it has the tephra mod on it...

the dual boost solenoid should not be a problem for any rom. i had my dual solenoid disconnected for a while and never got a CEL. also i am using a non JDM rom and no problems here.

Slightly off topics, sorry, Gizzmo Boost control Solenoid works as good as the Apexi except you have to join the wires manually.

The Live Mapping Dr Banks did, wait till you try it!!!

If only you could control mivec and LC1 wideband hint hint....

So i experienced some idle issues converting an '05 evo to 96530006. Sporadically - but more often then not - when rolling in neutral the car will want to stall or stall. It is quite frustrating in a parking lot. I did some investigation and the standard idle tables between 96530006 and the stock rom (96940011) are different at warm up. I changed the 96530006 values to the 96940011 values and it helped but did not fully correct the issue.

I would love to start using 96530006 only but i can't until this gets figured out.

They are not as common as the other ROMs. There has been some discussion of trying to use the 96420011 for all '03-'04s, but there aren't as many patches or tables worked out for it, and I think the 94170015 is too entrenched for people to consider switching. So overall it goes:

94170015: '03-mid '04
96420011: late '04
96940011: USDM '05, but there are more patches for the 96530006 which is an EDM Evo 8 ROM. It works pretty well in the USDM cars, with the exception of a few minor idling issues I think a few people are having.
88590015: '06

It was already said, but don't forget to copy over the immobilizer code to the new ROM that you are going to use.
Initially, there was a lot of question of 96530006 working in place of 94170015 in the "Universal ECU" thread. But with the immobilizer stuff being sorted out I think there is only one other hurtle.

I don't know about others, but the only thing keeping me from going over to 96530006 from 94170015 is just the xml files. I have a 94170015 xml file that took me forever to build up and it has a ton of stuff that I haven't seen in the 96530006 xml.

I've got a 96530006 xml file that I am working now and I hope to swap over to the updated ROM in the near future.

It may be worthwhile to start a thread with just the intention of building up and verifying functionality of the 9653006 xml.
