E85 Tuner

Im looking to see who does E85 tuning around tx. The only thing I can find was FL and TN anyone closer than that? Also are E85 tunes more complicated over email than 93?

Nothing more complicated about e85 just a different fuel like c16 or something.

I feel that E85 is much more complicated and should always be tuned on a dyno. The reason being is that you can easily surpass MBT on E85 and the engine will not ping. Gasoline is different in that you usually ping before you achieve MBT. Therefore you you can tune to the knock threshold and then back it off a tick.

Or (on gasoline) you can go for magic 8's at peak torque then copy in a few crazy 19's in the higher rpm area. Dial in a ton of fuel and your done. However when your rod bearings let loose 20K miles or so later don't blame me.

GST motorsports has some of the best E85 tuning that I've seen anywhere.

Yep, I'm switching to E85 soon, and I'm heading back to Mellon.

I've got the injectors and the double-pumper (E85 setup from Buschur) sitting in the garage, ready to go in.

Where in TX are you located? I'll be tuning my first e85 Evo this weekend. Would have already started but we had to order some new bolts for the turbo / manifold / o2 housing.

thanks fellas There are other ways to determine when you've gone too far with timing on E85 without a dyno

Of course there is...when you spin a rod bearing from the constant beating.

Seriously though, an easy enough way is to just analyze logs for acceleration from set RPM points from one pull to the next. If you car is getting quicker, you're still good...once it plateaus or gets slower with increased timing and no knock, you're most likely past MBT and need to dial it back down.

haha yeah that would be a bad technique. I had a car recently come to me from another "e85" tuner which was running 32* of timing...and this is on a car running 30psi. I was horrified when I saw that. Friends shouldn't let Friends tune their cars!

the AFR wasn't bad IIRC, I think they were SOOOO far out there with timing that the car didn't make enough power to knock
