Fuel light/cell adjustment

Does anyone know if you can adjust the fuel light, or fuel cell light to come on later. I consistantly get the light to come on when I have 3 gallons left. However, when I am driving my guage states that I have nothing, or is right about on the "E". I beleive the tank is a 14 gallon, or 14.9 gallon on the EVO 8 GSR 2004. When I go to fuel up after light comes on, I consistantly only put in 11.2 ~ 11.5 gallons. Thats topping it off, and taking the time to make sure the tank is full.

Just a curiosity question. Thanks in advance.

It is a 14 gallon tank. I don't think there is any digital way to modify when it comes on, but if you really want you could bend the arm on the float (think like making a toilet stop filling sooner) that is in the fuel tank. I just know that the light comes on at that time and I have ~60 miles left to empty (which isn't that much IMO).

Even with my Stage II cobb tune, I am averaging 30 MPG on the freeway. 3 gallons left gives me 90 miles. I just wish the tank read more acurretly. Thanks again. Leavin it the way it is, just have to trust it, after several tanks of gas, and not just reading the fuel guage.

It's not good to run your tank too low anyway you could pick up sediment and junk that that will settle at bottom of tank if present. Running e85 I always start thinking about filling up around 1/4 tank even though I have map switchng.

Most cars by design have low fuel lamp light up at 1.5 to 2.5 gallons remaining.

I believe this is a good thing better to have too much fuel than not enough

PS as OP posted you probably could bend float arm down but once again why would you want to
