2006 Eclipse, manual trans, V6

Has anyone been able to connect and tune one of these cars with ECU flash?

I'm setting ours up to road race full time and would like to get into the ECU. I've tried and get a incorrect kernel code.

Thanks for any help.

I couldnt find the read write wiring to wire up the white connector. It definitely is OBD2 and not CAN as I tried the OP2 on it just to see. I have a customer or 2 that would also like to have some access to their ECU. For some reason the Auto is supported, so maybe an Auto ECU swap?

Interesting, I thought it was OBD2 also but I am with you, I can't find the white connector. I tried connecting with the can bus option and EVOX cable etc., still will not connect.

So who do we need to figure this out?

Hmmm, well then we need to see if Colby wants to disassemble another CAN protocol that doesnt use the same processor as the rest of them. Seems odd that Mitsu would do that but it seems the proof is in the pudding.

quick two questions.

1 how hard would it be to convert to a slightly older ECU say something out of a 03 - 04, it would surprise me if they didn't work with ecuflash.

2. aside from cost, if it is going to be a track only car why not go something stand alone. you can get an inexpensive yet very effective mega squirt for 400 (250 if you can assemble it your self)

Aaron you may want to contact Tearstone (Russ) and ask him directly what he has figured out too... I know him from previously living in Florida, and having a 3G eclipse back in the day... If I know him, he has done some research....

Either older or newer, there seem to be a intermediate step from SH2 512kB ECU's to m32r 1MB ECUs and that is 384/512kB m32r ECUs, They are quite different in hex layout. They were used e.g. in EDM, JDM Outlanders, Colts... I believe, this kind of ECU is used in your car.
I have already asked mrfred to pass such a ROM to Colby to support this kind of ECU's, but I do not know the status of development.

It would be great to be able to access this ECU. If there is something I can do on my end, supply the ECU or do anything needed within my abilities I'd be glad to do it.

I do not want a stand alone on the car, it doesn't need it. I was hoping to make a few more HP with it but mostly be able to delete some factory equipment on it and get rid of the CEL's from doing so.

It's a great car honestly and I want to keep making good use of it after Mitsubishi supported us with the car.

With or without tuning the V6 Eclipse is a great car. We made a few parts for them, the car ran 14.6 at about 98 mph if I remember correctly. I've autocrossed it and road raced it a lot. I'd just like to pull some crap off the car to lighten it and not be bothered with the CEl's the most.

Race season is back..............any chance anyone figured out a way to get into the 4G Eclipse ECU's?

I've got a track event 9th-11th at Mid Ohio and if possible I'm hoping to do some tuning on the car. Disabling a few CEL's would be at the top of my list

I'll gladly throw some money at the development if someone can do it.

David, I would, but there are steps before I can do anything about it.

1. pull the ROM, either convince Colby to support 384kB m32 processors - that would involve sending one ECU to him,
or use some other ways of pulling it (JTAG/SPI, piasini serial suite,....).
2. ensure that you can flash it back.

If you can get thru this, i will be more than glad to disassemble it for you.

I'm way over my head posting in this thread, but I though the white connector was just to ground. I don't know for sure, but it could be that simple.
