Switching to Low Maps w/o Knock ??
Switching to Low Maps w/o Knock ??
Hey guys, I recently looked at some logs and tune (someone else's car) that are odd. Basically the car is starting to interpolate between Low & High fuel and timing maps even though there is only 0 to 1 count of knock (actually starts interpolating when there is 0 logged knock). The car is running 90 octane. Any ideas why this would happen ?
How much has the octane number dropped to? From reading the other thread I think you suggested putting the hi and low fuel maps the same. Lets see what happens then. I also run on 90 Octane but with an 8 ECU and haven't seen this issue.
Suppose one were to screw around with the scaling in Evoscan so that one kock count equalled what we normally call six knock counts. I doubt this is the case here though.

did u log octane level to see this or is the car throwing up random timing numbers?
dont make the low and high the same. what is advised is that you make all the high the same and all the low the same.
i guess if its a one off for testing then i guess u can make it the same to see the effects.

Although I normally don't trouble the low octane map, I think you could run very safely by keeping the low and hi octane fuel maps the same while keeping the timing maps different. Pulling timing has a much bigger effect on reducing knock than increasing fuel.
