have you had a look here?

http://www.geekmapped.com/forums/showthread.php?t=738

Not used it myself but it supposedly allows access to ECU's where the init code has been changed.

none of the unlockers/codebreakers worked for some odd reason, any idea on why that would be? I purchased this car fromt he dealership 1.5 years ago, who knows what the previous owner did, but it runs/drives/etc fine... just unable to tune

there is no standalone, its the factory ecu. Could it be possible the bonehead prior owner had an accessport/utec or something of that sort, and removed it and it locked the ecu itself? I'm really looking for some help in this situation. thanks!

Take the car to the dealer and get it flashed back to stock. They should be able to do that.

Sounds like it would be easier to get another ECU. I have an extra if you want (shameless plug :P) No clue how much they go for. Let me know if your interested.

I have another e9 ecu as it is, for back-up in case mine isnt workable (immobilizer issues with new ecu/dealership needing to do that, you know). I just don't want to pay rape at the stealership you know... anyone encountered such issues?!
