I recently had a lock out scare. I thought i toasted it. Turned out my laptop charger which was in the cig lighter was drawing too much juice and the ECU wouldnt allow a read or a flash. +1 on checking voltage

try to read with the eng running it should cut the eng as it starts to read , if it doesnt check the wiring from flash connector to ecu .

Good idea! Check all your wiring for tampering / modification

use evoscan 2.6 beta and flash back a stock rom, had that issue after trying a periphery and ecuflash did not allow me to reflash worked for me.
