Help.. Evo threw P0455 Code

Hey guys. I was recently rear ended which I am still waiting for the persons insurance to kick in and repair my vehicle. Anyways the other day my CEL came on so I got the code checked and it was the P0455 code. I was concerned that it maybe from something involving the accident, because now everytime I fill my gas tank I can't get the gas pump to lock it just keeps coming unlocked. So now when I get gas I have to sit there and try to gauge the amount of fuel I need in my tank. However the guy who checked my code said that my gas cap may be bad.

I was just wondering if this was correct?

How hard did you get hit? Could the filler neck be kinked?

Got hit pretty hard my whole trunk area is kinda buckled and my rear bumper support got tucked under the vehicle. Dont know if that really helps or not. If this hose was kinked would it be part of this code my vehicle is throwing? Is there any easy way to check that? Sorry Im a newb here

Yea already checked that sticky and cruised around looking for anyone else whose had this error pop up. I guess my main question is could this be resulting from the wreck I was in and should I report it to their adjuster when they come appraise the damages? Or is it as simple as me just getting another gas cap or whatever?

Alot of that EVAP stuff, canister, hoses and such sit back there right near the tank. Check if you kinked or broke a hose

The P0455 was thrown due to my Evaporative Emission Canister being damaged.

My evo threw a P0455 the other day. Any ideas on what the fix is? Would running ethanol have anything to do with it?

check for cracks or necks in the hoses and lines. unfortunatly some of them are above the fuel tank so u might have to take that off to see them, it could be as simple as a necked hose, where it would create a pressure drop and the system would think its a leak.
