96530006 and EGR/EVAP

It is my understanding that the 96530006 base ROM does not have EGR/EVAP. Is this correct?

If so, will this effect the USDM cars, in anyway? I was thinking that EGR was Vacuum actuated and would trigger but the ROM wouldn't know what to do. I am asking this even though I have been using the ROM for awhile now.

If one where to remove the EGR / EVAP, is there a different procedure because of this ROM being used?

Anyone have a diagram of the EGR lines and connections?

rolly1818, thanks for the reply, but that was some of my question regarding if the bits need to be setup because the ROM "theoretically" doesn't support EGT / EVAP.

when i used the tephra 96537006 rom, i took out all the egr and evap stuff.
i still had to disable the evap test from the rom because i got the check engine light.
so yes, bits need to be setup.

THanks guys. Interesting thing is that I am getting a CEL for EGR Malfunction on 96530006 and figured with EGR not on the ROM it would not check for that. My guess is the vacuum line is off again so need to fix but figured I may just remove it all together.

Elhalisf, what all did you remove? Leave anything still connected?

Did you use a block off plate for where the EGR solenoid was?

I haven't removed the components yet, so haven't used the bits. I just found out why my SES light was on for EGR Malfuntion, vacuum line from top of throttle body was off.

Are both lines from the top of the TB removed for EGR? How much of the vacuum line mess behind the Intake manifold did you remove? I know there are 2 lines from the EGR and then 1 feels like it "T's" up.

I have been looking for an EGR line routing diagram and haven't found one.

1.) The car this rom came from has EGR.
2.) The car this rom came from probably had EVAP as well. Maybe not.

Take everything off that isn't FPR / PCV / Brake booster/ BOV line. (In fact the big EVAP line on the IM makes a real nice BOV line if you have a TiAl, or BOV with big ports.) It also leaves you a nice MBC/EBC sized line from the manifold. Not to mention improving the looks of your under hood situation.

That whole conglomeration of sh^t behind the manifold goes away. The metal brackets, both lines on the TB, the check valve, and all the other stuff gets tossed.

Go turn the stuff off. Get an EGR block off plate.

Then apply acamus OBD II readiness patch. To both set the readiness indicators, and pass / fail flags for the required items.

And never think about it again.

Found these pics in another thread and wanted to post them here for reference.

Did anyone have any issue with the 2 open ports on the TB or did you plug them?

Oh you absolutely HAVE to cap them.

You will have a HUGE leak if you do not cap them.

That is what I thought, just verifying. Did you experiance any driveability changes after removal or just tune it out? When pulling the Evap did you pull the main line running to the back or just leave it and zip tie it out of the way?
