Uprated Coil Packs ?

Are you guys using uprated coil packs with GT35r type turbos (35psi boost)? If so, which one is a plug and play with standard ecu?

I am for my 35. I am using the Sparktech Non-CDi and it is flawless with the stock ECU.

Is there a lot of tuning involved for one to upgrade to the new non cdi?

Nope, bolt on and walk away. Or if it was like my car finish tuning it free from misfires at high boost/low timing.

John,

At what boost did yours start mis firing?

Just to confirm again, you simply plugged it in and no tuning required to the oem ecu?

I didnt have issues until I bolted the 35R on to be honest (relative to boost). I ran into ignition problems at about 530whp on pumpgas with 1* at peak torque and 9* out the top. This was at 28-29psi. It wouldnt do it everytime but the timing that low lead to misfires occasionaly. The Non CDI cured that but I still wasnt able to run more timing until I did something to improve the VE which in my case was the Magnus Cast Intake manifold.

Prior to the 35R I was still on E85 and dont have misfire problems since I can run alot of timing. I never had issues at low rpm and high boost it was always right around redline, in the case of the stock intake/ignition it was around 7600-7700. The car dropped 100whp in one that I could barely feel in the car.

Thanks John, that makes perfect sense.

In your opinion, is the non cdi more than capable of the GT35r or is it worth the $$$ to get the pro cdi?

We have decided to test how BA the non-cdi really is and have put one on our drag Evo. I imagine a 42R at 45+psi should tell us pretty quick I think for a street car the Non-CDi defintiely gets it done.
