Not scaling injectors???

Ok I was talking to a guy at the track,,, with a evo 8,,
And he had 780 injectors,, and meth... He told me check out his tune so I did,,,
And his 780's where not scaled... I looked @ his High Octane Fuel Map,,and all they did was lean everything out to get the injectors to work,,,
Is this a time boom waiting to explode.....

I dont know if its gonna explode but its a half *** way to tune for injectors.

Well, WOT open throttle can still be tuned good (i suppose, I mean people have incorrectly scaled injectors and still gone fast <DF> lol. I still would tune injectors properly and not half *** it).

The problem comes more so when taking fuel trims in to account. They will most likely be off.

But like I said, its all debatable. Hopefully some more people will chime in.

You would almost for sure have to be running full time open loop for this to work at all. I think it would throw off things as far as startup enrichment goes. This actually sounds like a harder way to do it, rather than just typing in the injector size and latency.

Actually it will run fine. I had a set of FIC 850's and didn't know crap about tuning or scaling back in the day. I drove around for about two months on them before Chris Turman (Mellon) helped me out and got everything straight.
You will not make peak power capable, nor will you pass emissions (sniffer test), idle quality will probably be a little off and you might get a bit of rise and fall in RPM. Also you will most likely throw a CEL.
That being said, whoever "tuned" this car seriously set this guy up for failure. Start over and have them properly scaled and latencies set, then tune the rest of the map. If the Fuel Trims are maxed out how it is when there is a significant change in weather or other factors, then there will be no room left for adjustment and the car will start pulling timing from knock and rob horse power.
Bottom line, he is not getting the most out of his injectors or his car with the way it's currently setup.
