Help: Evo IX running lean, stock MAF/Injectors
I was thinking if it was a pump issue and you had the injectors in the fuel map maxed out then duty cycle would reflect that no?
Too bad you dont have FP gauge then you could see fuel pressure in boost at the rail.

I have seen >10% AFR errors with HKS cones. MAF sensor under-reads.
got to play with the locals car i have been having issues with. swapped MAFs, nothing. Swapped pumps, nothing. He is going to order a new FPR but i am not hopeful. Not sure what the hell is going on. I have to log IDCs next time he is here but i can't understand why he would be out of injector at 330whp.
I am having simular issues on my car. I logged it today and I was pulling a 12.5afr at peak boost (23psi). I have denso 660ccs, scaled out to 650 with fuel trims +/-3%. In ecuflash I had the 260 load cells at 9.0 in the fuel tables. To get my afr down to 11.4 at peak, I had to input 8.4 in the fuel tables.. and if I do a pull from 3k till redline and shift, my afrs drop into the mid 10's..
I know its not my injectors, because they are knew and installed after this problem started. No boost leaks, no exhuast leaks.. I think my fpr is ticking very loud.. I compared my injector/fpr tick to my buddys evo 8 and his is no where near as loud. You can feel my fpr pulsing/clikcing very loudly.

Checked my fuel again today, and I had to input numbers as low as 8.0afr in the ECU to get 11.3 @ peak boost.. and also noticing a weird lean idle condition when I start the car when its warm.. it idles at 16.0afr until I rev the motor a little then it comes back down tp 14.7afr... I am thinking my fuel pump or fpr is too blame since nothing else had been changed since this problem has been occuring. I am going to check my fuel pressure soon.
anyone have any ideas on this?? ive gone back to stock injectors w/ lean spool disabled and I am having inconsistent AFRS from gear to gear.. as I accell from 2nd to 3rd to 4th... the AFR slowly rises from gear to gear?? starting at 11.2 afr at 5500 in 2nd.. then 11.5 afr at 5500 in 3rd, then almost 12.0 by redline in 4th gear... I cant throw enough fuel at it.. boost is 25 peak and 19psi by redline.. not anything out of the ordinary...
I too am having this exact issue. Sorry to bump an old thread, this matches almost exactly with my symptoms.
2006 IX 5spd. TBE with cat, GFB Deceptor BOV set to 100% recirc. Stock fuel pump, injectors, lines. Verified FPR was connected and zip-tied the line. ROM 88590015 running V7.
Car was not running this lean, until I simply set lean spool start rpm to 7000rpm (same as ending rpm) to shut off lean spool. I figured I was hitting safe AFRs before and another point richer wouldn't hurt anything before getting a good log to fine tune. I was hitting roughly 10.4 AFRs at redline and wanted to start working on the fuel map.
So lean spool was disabled and all of a sudden the car was a bit hesitant coming into boost, then rockets away like usual. AFRs at 2000rpm when I floor it in 2nd look something like this....
2000rpm 13.5
2300rpm 12.9
2500rpm 12.5
2700rpm 12.3
3000rpm 12.5
3100rpm 13.0
3300rpm 13.6
3500rpm 13.9 (let off here)
So I tried adding quite a bit of fuel in those cells, going down to 9.9. I flashed and the next run still goes to 13.4afr before dropping to rich values again as I rev beyond 3500rpm. I checked the FPR hoses and such, tightened all my piping for good measure, and it still does this.
So I turn lean spool back on by reversing my change, and it still dips lean around 3500rpm, but now only to 12.8-12.9afr. I'm rather confused why disabling lean spool made everything quite a bit leaner? I didn't see many threads where this happened to mostly stock IXs but my symptoms were the same as those mentioned here.
I don't have a way to test the pump currently, but it seemed okay before I tried disabling lean spool. I'd think this is something I did with the tune, but adding fuel seems to do little to correct this lean spot. Perhaps I have to work on scaling the MAF? Any ideas?
