Wow man really sorry to hear that, I dont take my car anywhere for work to be done. I mean I may not drive an evo but its still my car that only I will work on. I had a bumper that had to get painted to I took it off the car and took it to the shop. When I went to get my tires mounted I took the wheels off the car and took them down to the place to get them mounted, I even went so far as to take the old wheel weights off so they didnt go gouging the rim with their flathead screwdriver when they would go to pry the old weights off lol.

Ouch, that sucks, speaking as someone who's had a car in the garage for quite a few years without the time or means to "git-r-done", so to speak.

Have you considered doing a source release of Mitsulogger, or the work you've done on the iPhone client, in case someone wanted to pick up where you left off? (By way of example, ziad picked up jcsbanks' live mapping client not long after he moved on to the GT-R.) Better it continue development than languish on a hard drive somewhere, I'd think.

Regardless, good luck to you; hope you can get things resolved with the damage to your car.

Actually, I think a portion of the code JCSBank's Live mapping client is based on early source of Mitsulogger, or it was at one point, as I supplied the sourcecode to the live mapping efforts back in the day.

I thought about releasing the source to Mitsulogger but I haven't really had the time to think through how I wanted to go about doing it. There were alot of things I wanted to change/improve to make it easier to build and package.

The iPhone client won't be released, there's still the possibility I'll continue development on it, however that issue has more to do with Apple and their App-Store policies, and access to certain API's. The solution would have been to develop a standard "TCP/IP" stream to a wifi device that reads the ECU, a complex and overly elegant solution to something that should be much simpler. And iPhone bluetooth stack is not very robust (It recognizes a very limited subset of Bluetooth devices, and serial communications is not one of them at the moment, at least anything other than Sync and GPS at the moment)

Every so often I contact a vendor about getting a complete transmission without sending a core first, and then get a core refund (or waive the core charge on my word, but my word's apparently not very good) I think the issue isn't really the vendors though, I think its because they really need a core in hand, and that core is what gets worked on and turned around. and they have very few spares. So I keep my eyes open for Evo8 5 speed transmissions on Ebay and other places in the hope I can snag one that is usable (in my car) so I can remove the original (VIN#'s matching transmission) to have it sent out to be rebuilt. I'm attempting to keep all of the original cases to the major components original numbers matching to the car.

Thought I would bring this back. Any chance of porting mitsulogger to the iPhone. I heard apple eased up on there regulations with the release of os 4 system. I for one would be willing to donate $$$$ to help further the cause.
