ECUflash DIY cable
ECUflash DIY cable
since cable looks pretty simple, usb plug i can just have from old mouse or whatever, just bought obd2 plug with terminals for 8$ shipped and this white flash plug got only one pin i can just slide terminal on it, why cant I find wiring diagram how to connect all of those myself??? nobody tried it yet???
wow, www.limitless.co.nz cable looks way less complicated, anyways, any description to that diagram???
I believe that even if you make one it will not work with ecuflash. You have to have a special something to make it recognize the cable.
Thank you amacus I mixed them up.
An assembled cable is definetly worth buying.

Here is your answer.
mt057: are you sure Hamish added cable validation to EvoScan, and you're not thinking of EcuFlash? It's been a while since I checked, but I didn't think it cared.
boczo777: The "limitless" (EvoScan) cables are roughly similar to the OpenPort 1.3 cables that acamus posted the schematic for; he's made a couple of pin adjustments, if memory serves, but nothing too radical. They both use an FT232 chip under the hood for providing the serial interface; I'm afraid it's not as simple as hacking the plug off of a mouse cable, and directly wiring a few things; you need a serial interface as well. An FT232RQ is only $4.50 from DigiKey, so it's not an expensive addition (all the components on that drawing come to a little less than $10, so it's not that big of a deal; you're really paying for the excellent packaging that's been done).

Yes, they use some sort of "cable verification", nevertheless I cannot tell much bout boczo's electronic literacy, so I have just pointed to the schematics he wanted.
Anyway $8 for plug + $10 + PCB + shipping + time, it seems to me assembled cable is worth it, but I cannot tell how valuable boczo's time is
