Long story short, I picked up my first Evo (VIII) about 3 weeks ago.

It had a custom tune, but I was getting a boatload of knock. A flashing CEL is scary to a new owner!
After reading for a few (okay, many) hours here, I purchased EVOScan and downloaded ECUFlash. Figured out how to get it all hooked up and working, after updating drivers, etc. and made my first pull:
Thanks to the sticky "how to tune an evo" I felt comfortable enough to dive in and start tweaking. Changed the scaling on the fuel table to add a "250" load column.
Changed EVOScan XML to go to 2byte.
Also used jumperalex's smoothing tool (too easy!).
Ended up here:
It's getting way too late to be making this much noise. I've still got work to do with the fuel (the rich point at about 4700), but I was so happy to be able to just get the knock gone!
It's my first foray into the evo ecu, and thanks to all of the info here my learning curve looks like a wall. Thanks to all who have contributed!!!

Eee PC. I'm logging the items Mellon recommends for his tuning (even though I'm not using him yet) - should I get more datapoints if I only log a few items like TPS/boost/etc instead of the litany I've got now that I'm not using? Or would this be a result of the power setting of the laptop (need to increase it/plug it into an inverter?)?
