Did you ask about a group buy or anything? What did she say?
My location (Location: Lattitude 48.38°, Longitude 17.58°, Altitude 146m) is unusable for your group buy, what I have meant is that when I was ordering the unit for myself, the lady at their customer service was able to communicate/mail with me in English.

I punched those coordinates into Google Maps, and you live in some very oddly-shaped buildings. Looks like you have a track nearby? (Trnavské automobilové závody; I had no idea Czech was the local language there!)

Anyway, I contacted SERG, and they sent this back to me:

It's ok, we do understand English, but anyway thanks for your translation!
We can deliever our computers to any country and state and sure we can
deliver it to USA.
The full set (tripcomputer + 2 temperature sensors + delivery) will cost
90 Euro (129 USD).
We do have a tripcomputer with English interface and English language
installation instruction.
Unfortunately we do not offer version with miles and gallons, only litres
and kilometres.
If it is ok for you - let me know and I will explain you how it is
possible to pay for tripcomputer and to get it.

So, no MPH/gallons, just KPH/liters. Still, I suspect I could live with that. I'll need to see if I can find a few bucks for one of these.

It's interesting that they provide a couple of temperature sensors for in-cabin and outside temperature readings; I'd missed that in the description.

acamus, have you already received yours? Let us know how you like it once you have it in-hand and installed!

very cool
love this sort of stuff
wonder what the range of the temp sensors are
would be very cool to be able to read oil temp and coolant temp on the display

Yes I have received mine almost a year ago as I have written in the first post.
So it seems we need to disassemble it and create appropriate UI for you guys.
OT: My coordinates are not that acurate, but close enough to give you an idea, it is not Czech but Slovak what is spoken here

Ah, my apologies, I missed the part where you said you'd had it for a while. I'm pretty impressed; actually, my wife liked it enough that we might pick one up for her Subaru too.

If I pick one up, I won't be too shy about digging into it. Have you ripped yours open yet?

(And sorry about the language mixup: Google translate seemed to think everything I was looking up was in Czech. I feel like a caveman, I can only speak English fluently, and might be able to pick up things here and there with French and Spanish.)

Like acamus said, the range is pretty much ambient temps as far as accuracy goes; assuming acamus' schematic is right, they're DS18B20 temp sensors, so it's not as simple as just replacing them with another sensor and rescaling a 5V input in the firmware like we can do with the Evos.

(I've never looked at those sensors before; they're pretty cool, especially the "parasite mode" of powering via the signal wire and internal capacitor, which explains the simple install of the sensors. The 1-wire bus is pretty cool too; it doesn't look like they're really leveraging it with this unit, since you'd need a custom firmware and wacky installation instructions for every device, but for personal projects, that's way cooler than a bunch of thermistors. )

This little gadget is more and more tempting.

It would be great to use it to incorporate into our current logging capabilities.

I had no reason to crack the thing (actually metric system is pretty fine with me),
but if you pull the ROM and will need help with disassembly/UI implementation,
I may help you.

Edit: As you can see there is ICP (In-Circuit Programming) connector and
I remember seeing one when installing the unit in my car.

do you think if there are enough of us willing to buy the english one, would they be willing to program it for all english units?

Hah, I missed that when I was first scanning over the schematic. Do you recall, is it just an ordinary 5-pin header?

phenem/Standing Z: I just sent them a note asking about quantity discount/group buy options, and whether they'd be interested in adding U.S. support themselves if we had enough buyers (I suspect no, but it never hurts to ask). I'll post up here when I hear back from them.

You would....douche!!!! .

Anyways, how hard was the install? I've never disassembled anything on the evo but the hvac control area to install a headunit.

I heard back from SERG, and while they typically don't do quantity discounts, they're willing to do 10% off if they get five or more orders in one shot, apparently because I showed so much interest. I'm seriously considering getting two (one for the Evo, one for my wife's WRX).

I haven't spoken to them about shipping and payment yet, but at this point I'm really pushing EvoM's no-non-vendor-group-buy rules (and I have no interest in selling anyone anything, I just want a trip computer ). I'll simply say that if you are prepared to actually buy one of these, contact me via PM or email sometime this week, and I'll try to figure out the shipping details with SERG and nail down a final cost (there will almost certainly be shipping costs above and beyond the cost of the unit itself, and I might have to take delivery and re-ship to buyers).

They did tell me that while sufficient interest might motivate them to look into adding US-market display support (ie. considerably more than a handful of buyers), right now it's not on their roadmap. So, they can do these in English, but it'll be metric-only.

(How the devil did I sign myself up for this? I hate group-buys. )

One last update for international folks, since it wasn't clear previously: SERG is willing to ship (directly, ie. I won't be re-shipping anything, thankfully; I still have to handle collection of payments, but that's significantly easier) anywhere in the world with these, and the shipped price is $116.10 USD (10% off). So acamus, it looks like your coordinates might have still allowed you to organize this; do you want to be the Slovakian dealer for SERG trip computers?

I'm working out the details with Sergey and Nataliya regarding how to get payment to them, but if anyone else is interested, email me by the end of this weekend, because as of right now we already have five (possibly six) units. PM's are fine, but please make sure you include your email address as well. And please, contact me directly, don't clutter up the EcuFlash forum with this stuff.

To avoid causing heartburn for EvoM's staff (/me glances nervously in MRTurco's general direction), this will be my last post about purchasing these. Hopefully the next time I post, it'll be with a picture of the trip computer.
