03 JDM evo 8 boost control help

Hi guys,

I need to understand if the 03 jdm evo 8 has the correct 3 bar map sensor or do I need to get one? Also do I need to upgrade my standard boost controller? Or does it stay the same?

and all the threads on ecu based boost control relate to USDM cars and not JDM. Does anyone have a how to for the JDM 08?

Thanks

the JDM evo should have a 3bar sensor from the factory.

All the ecu based boost control should be universal, so you should be good to go

here is a photo of the sensor, notice the "3" with the circle around it. That is how you identify the correct factory sensor.

my jdm 8 doesnt have a MAP sensor, i think it was the evo 7 got a 1 bar and the evo 9 got a 3 bar

I am sure the jdm 8s dont get any map sensor, i could be wrong though

You can do ECU controlled boost, but not the boost based version. This will give you very nice boost control with a three port solenoid. I can't really see the benefit of the boost based system.
