Wow this thread is awesome! I hope you guys are still active and can help me out. I have an Evo V RS LHD and am interested in using an Evo VIII ECU, while keeping the Evo V wiring. I also have the built in antilag (SAS) system and am wondering if the VIII ECU will be able to operate it properly. I am almost ready to get the car started and need to figure out which ECU to go with. The car came with a MOTEC but I have no experience tuning it and figured the VIII ECU would be easy to tune and easy to come by in the US.

An evo5/6 ecu would be easiest for you

Well I got my V running today but I have no way to tune with the current Motec.

If I go with a V/VI ECU is there a Tephra rom available for it?

Ceddy does a ROM for the V/VI that is similar to Tephra's ROMs.

succesfully swapped VIII ecu in IV
now installing slim fan and how to wire it ?
it is one speed unit, so has only 2 wires - positive and negative

so how should I connect it to oem harness' 4 wire plug ? is it safe if I join car's hi/low wires together and negative wires together and connect them to fan's two wires accordingly ?

You can do that, or just connect it to the low speed wires.

It stays on as far as I remember, but it is easy to double check. Having it stay on would be the safer way to do it, because if there is a failure of the high speed circuit this way the fan would still run.
