after checking more post, seems that the evo8 ecu i bought has the wrong rom flashed on. the ecu label has 1860A118 printed on it. thanks to any person for the help.

If you have an 03-04 US EVO 8, you should use 94170015. Its the same family as 94170008 (9417 family) but its the most current 9417 ROM.

The ROM can be found on the EVO ECU wiki or at the active matrix forum

 

i don't have a evo only a evo8 ecu. i have a souped up 97 mirage sohc 1.8 pos that i waste my time on. i don't seem to find much over at aktive matrix did a search for rom images came up zip nada. so i must not know the right terms to look for. i'll check out the wiki.

 

evoecu wiki had the stock rom 9417008 i checked out in ecuflash and the immobilizer hex is set at FFFF. so from what i read that means the immobilizer is already disabled right?

 

If your trying to run your EVO 8 ECU on a car that is not an EVO, then you should use 96530006. Its what most people use when trying to put EVO ECUs in non EVO cars.

 

thats what i've read also. the latest reading leaves me to believe i need to flash on the stock rom image that was on this ecu before someone flashed it and i bought it later. it had 96940011 and i couldn't get the darn fuel pump to power up. the thing just cranked over no start. already spent to much time screwing up this ecu flashing on stuff that didn't seem to work.

 

flashed 9417008 cranks still. still no starting. the immobilizer is set at FFFF. funny how the 98 and up don't have this problem. also i run evo scan actuator test all test come back no response from ecu. talked to my buddy with the 01 mirage with the evo8 ecu his fuel pump does make a noise when he runs the evoscan fuel pump test. if i flash on 9653006 i need to be sure the immobilizer hex is the same as the 9417008 right?

so do that and flash on 96530006 with the changes and not worry bout doing 96940011?

 

that didn't work either lol. i'm begining to think it can't be done in a 97 mirage lol
