is load a true representation of load?

might be barking up the wrong tree but.
does load mean air flow used?
i.e we should see increased load with more flow not just boost. so if i fit a gt40 but only run it at 14psi its possible i'm moving as much air as 22psi from a 8 turbo?
so although boost is lower load could be the same and should be reflected in logs?

Yes, that's possible. Baro+temp compensated load is mass airflow. Just keep in mind there are several different load variables that you can log.

fitted a bigger turbo running at the same boost as before so expected to see load change?

You'll have to look up what load your 1byte load is logging for your ROM.

But, in general, uncompensated load is a volumetric airflow. That will increase with increased VE. Baro+temp compensated load is a mass airflow. That will increase with VE or lower temps.

So, if your new bigger turbo has a greater VE and/or lower temps at the same boost level as your old smaller turbo, then you will see differences in your load(s).

Of course, if you also change your intake to something that messes with the maf readings, then loads can be skewed, so they may go up, down, etc.
