You are still trusting the sensor to determine raw counts and it is better than nothing if you dont have the experience. Voltage is amplitude so you get a better idea. It will work for alot of cars but you will get to a point where nothing works other than looking for spikes. After that the next level knock control is really custom. Thats why I still read plugs when on gasoline.

aren't these two same as Knock Sum and Knock Voltage in evoscan ?

and also, what rpms correspond to knock mulipliers Low, Mid and High ?

My motor doesn't knock more with my built motor. Although once in a while around 2500rpm I get some minor knock on normal acceleration.

Some dont that is true. Our Tech Jake's 2.4 is absolutely silent, his knock control is stock.

I use knockfiltadc and knockbase in DMA to accurately catch the spikes. Also, I don't think the mid, high switching points are 5600. I have changed my knock multipliers on the 8's to 20/50/100 to confirm and I generally see the switching point at 6800rpm in my logs.

I use the electronic det can system made by PHORMULA and it works great, although I recommend a FRESH 9v battery during each listening session since low battery voltage seems to allow more static noise into the signal path.

Good to know Jamie. I will have to look into that, DMA boosts log speed to 62500?

Depending on the suspension, a bump in the road can set the knock sensor off. You will always get some knock down low cruising and accelerating. It only really matters when the car is getting into boost and going full boost. Other than that the car is picking up other stuff and is not real knock.

Yeah, I know you can change the baud rate in a regular rom to 62500 but if I recall, it really only doubles the samples per second. Have you ever tried DMA Aaron?

Would octane booster suffice for testing is knock is phantom?

Aaron, how aggressive did you have to get with your tables?

Thanks.

Personally I wouldn't rely on it.

Octane booster only raises the octane by a few points. If it says it raises the octane by 4 full points, that means it raises 93.0 octane to 93.4, not 97. It's a joke of a product really. 100 octane unleaded race gas, Would be more helpful.
