I'm considering an evo8 ecu swap into a 1g Eclipse and am trying to find the best deal on an ecu. In my research it looks like a 3g 2001+ Eclipse/Stratus/Intrepid ecu from a 2.4l manual car would work fine but there is a lot of conflicting information. Some references claim that the ecus are missing pins for boost control a couple of pins and my hopes are that this is actually referencing the car's harness. So hopefully I can get some clear confirmation.

Which non evo8 ecus can accept an evo8 rom (95060716 specifically) with full funtionality? I like electronic boost control but could live without it for my budget 1g build.

I would just use a EVO 8 ECU, since the 3G ECUs havent been defined as well and researched as much as the EVO 8 ECU.

You can get EVO 8 ECU in the for sale section on this forum for 100-200$.

 

I use an 01 gs manual ecu but you are correct it does not have pins connected for boost control or the fuel pump relay. Everything else works fine though with an evo rom.

 

My buddy is running a 3g ecu in his 95 gst with a 2.4l swap with no issues. They only cost about $40 around here.

Added: He is running a 05 rs/gs 2.4l 5-spd ecu. His also has all the pins. From what we've found out also is that Stratus 4 cyl 5spds have the same ecu as the 3g eclipse. But there hard to find.

 

Thanks for the help. Considering the excessively budget nature of this car this is probably what I will be doing. I'll try to snag a 2005 ecu if they aren't more expensive and hope that it has the pins but if not I can live without boost control.
