when you have a leak there is less air flowing in the motor. I does look like a leak somewhere because from that log the boost goes from 5,6,5,6,7,5 psi. post up the rest of the log if u can.

When you're in vacuum air would be leaking INTO the system, causing it to run leaner. Cruising in closed loop wouldn't be leaner however because the front o2 would adjust fueling to compensate for the extra air leaking in. Under boost however, air leaks OUT of the system, causing it to run richer. Since you're now in open loop and the fueling is derived from the fuel map, it can't compensate for the leak.

I am e-tuning the car at the moment and doing a proper boost leak test was the first thing we talked about when the OP was swapping turbos... I agree that it has to be a boost leak, because I have never seen tip-in that rich before, also if you run it through VDR it isn't hitting peak boost until around 5000 rpm, and then holding steady from there...

Your issue is with your "open loop load" tables.

Your welcome.

Thanks Jay, that was changed in the map I sent him last night... I dropped the crossover down to 80 load for 2500-3500 and now that area of the map is at like 15.5... haven't seen a log today to see what it did...

However talking with the OP today, he think the turbo may be on its last leg as well...

did a boost leak today and found no leaks. imo if i had a leak substantial enough to make this turbo not spool until 5k it would have to be substantial. and easily found. but i found nothing

could be fuel trim related ( injectors, deadtime, etc) or something you're missing mechanically. whens the last time you performed a leak test or visually inspected your engine bay?
